melling.audio is a partnership of freelancers fronted by James Melling, providing audio engineering, sound design, project management and music programming services to theatre and live events across the UK and internationally. From studio theatre to stadium show, we bring the experience, knowledge and people to deliver at any scale.
Our work spans production sound and associate sound design for theatre — including engagements across the West End, national and regional producing theatres, and touring venues — system engineering and design for touring artists, and music programming for stadium-scale live events such as the FIFA World Cup ‘26 opening ceremony.
On the road, we keep tours moving reliably and efficiently week on week, supplying engineers and managing the logistical challenges of regular touring productions.
Alongside the audio work we build software — small purpose-built tools and apps for the shows we run, where nothing off the shelf quite fits.
Most of all, we’re driven by the challenge of new work — shows that haven’t been made before, problems that demand fresh thinking, and the satisfaction of finding solutions that didn’t exist until we imagined them.
